The First Deputy Permanent Representative of Russia to the United Nations, Dmitry Polyansky, confirmed that the technical secretariat of the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons has suspended its cooperation with Syria in an attempt to blame it.

During a session of the UN Security Council yesterday, in response to the statements of the American representative, Polyansky pointed out the need to identify the party that is preparing absurd and unconvincing anti-Syrian reports that are based on videos and data from hostile structures, noting that, in flagrant violation of the Chemical Weapons Convention, Syria has been deprived of A number of rights and privileges in the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons.

Polyansky pointed out that Syria announced several times its willingness to host members of the organization's committee on its territory at any time, with the aim of holding the twenty-fifth round of consultations with it, but the organization's technical secretariat decided to postpone it on clearly fabricated and politicized pretexts.

Syria's permanent representative to the United Nations, Ambassador Bassam Sabbagh, reiterated during the Security Council session yesterday Syria's condemnation of the use of chemical weapons anywhere, anytime and by anyone and whatever the circumstances, noting that Western countries continue to fabricate lies about Syria's cooperation with the OPCW to pass resolutions and establish mechanisms Illegal in the flagrant politicization of the work of the organization.

Sabbagh said that in 2013, Syria joined the Chemical Weapons Convention and cooperated with the United Nations and the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons to dispose of its stockpiles of these weapons and their production facilities, which was accomplished in record time in the middle of 2014, according to the organization's relevant reports.
