The Baden-Württemberg FDP parliamentary group leader Hans-Ulrich Rülke has accused Prime Minister Winfried Kretschmann (Greens) of an attack on democracy.
Kretschmann said that one had to discuss disproportionate measures in the fight against the corona pandemic, criticized Rülke on Thursday at the traditional Epiphany meeting of the liberals in Stuttgart.
Stuttgart - If Kretschmann also declares that hyper-liberalism must be put to the test, then that is, on closer inspection, an “attack on liberal democracy and the constitutional norms of this country”.
"Someone wants to overturn parliamentary democracy and go back to authoritarian structures." The FDP is in favor of proportionality in the fight against the virus.
Rülke was criticized on Twitter for the harsh accusation.
"No.
I don't think that's true, ”replied SPD General Secretary Kevin Kühnert to Rülke's statements.
“By the way, #hyperliberalism also includes simply knocking out any nonsense.
Open the window at # 3K22! “, Said Baden-Württemberg Finance Minister Danyal Bayaz (Greens) with a view to the liberal Epiphany at the Stuttgart Opera.

In an interview in the summer of 2021, Kretschmann suggested enabling tough interventions in civil liberties in order to get pandemics under control more quickly.
After severe criticism of his statements, he said that he regretted that the interview had led to "misunderstandings" - and that he would never question the principle of proportionality.
