Shoigu discusses with his American counterpart a number of security issues

Today, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu and his US counterpart Lloyd Austin discussed in a telephone conversation a number of security issues.

The Russian Defense Ministry said in a brief statement that Shoigu and Austin held telephone conversations today, during which they discussed security issues of mutual interest.

The ministry did not disclose any other details about the contact.

Relations between Russia and the North Atlantic Treaty Organization led by the United States have recently been tense due to the increase in the military presence near the Russian borders under the pretext of protecting Ukraine, which Moscow considers a violation of the basic document of relations between the two sides.
