Summary 2021: Breaking records

2022-01-06T08:37:49.519Z

The Israeli car market recorded a record sales this year, but the forecasts and headlines announcing the breaking of the 300,000 car threshold were optimistic and premature. The motorcycle market is also setting new records

The Israeli car market, and this was already expected throughout the year, broke the local annual sales record.

According to a report by the latest car importers' association, 289,291 cars were delivered here last year.

what?

It's all?

Yes, despite bombastic predictions and headlines about shattering the 300,000 dedication line, the real data shows otherwise.

The record was broken, the headlines were inaccurate, to say the least.

What is clear is that under the right conditions, tens of thousands of other cars could have hit Israeli roads.

Demand, on the one hand, has been met by unsolvable inventory constraints, such as those left by many Israelis interested in purchasing a new vehicle, when importers simply could not meet the demand.

This problem is perhaps indicated by the very low dedication figures for December.

The one that sold the largest number of cars in Israel last year was Hyundai.

With its 43,152 new cars hit the road, compared to Toyota in second place (with 40,844 new vehicles).

Kia is in third place, with 39,737 new cars made on Israeli roads.

In fourth place is the best-selling European in Israel, for a long time, a Skoda with 18,628 vehicles.

Mazda closes the top five with 15,051 dedications.

Further down the list can be found Mitsubishi (sixth place with 12,828 cars), Seat (seventh place with 11,453 cars), Nissan (with 11,315 cars), Suzuki (10,563) and this top ten closes Chevrolet with 8,416 dedications.

Hyundai (Ionic in the main picture) is leading the market.

Toyota (Corolla in this picture) followed suit

And it's impossible to relate to the past year without talking about Tesla.

The electric car has ravaged the Israeli market, with local audiences breaking all predictions about this brand.

In its first year here, Tesla ranks 14th in the annual sales table with 6,299 cars made on Israeli roads.

Becomes effortlessly the best-selling electric car in our counties.

The three German luxury brands, which are now starting to meet the demand created by the brand mentioned above, populate the 17-19 places in the sales table.

Leading the prestigious Audi battle (3,763 vehicles) not far behind is Mercedes (3,609 vehicles) with this German trio closing in on BMW with 3,484 vehicles.

Other luxury brands sold smaller quantities, with Volvo delivering 2,270 dedications, Lexus delivering 1,854 vehicles, Land Rover delivering 718 vehicles and Cadillac delivering 652 vehicles.

Skoda in fourth place is still the European brand preferred by the Israeli customer

In general, the data show that the Israeli car market happily consumed relatively expensive cars.

In the luxury market, in recreational vehicles priced over NIS 200,000, there was a 47 percent increase this year.

In general, it seems that the average Israeli would prefer his new car to be a recreational vehicle, large (67 seats) and a luxury brand.

This specific segment recorded an increase of almost 90 percent in the past year when the best-selling model here was the Cadillac XT6.

Also 16 Ferrari news items sold here and 21 Bentley news items that hit the road, tell part of the story.

Also in DOG

The two-wheeled market broke all records this year, with a combination of factors pushing the market for the first time beyond 20,000 tools.

With traffic jams becoming unbearable, parking problems and more - the DOG solution is the only immediate solution to transportation problems in Israel.

The past year marked an increase of over 18 percent over the previous one with 20,718 new tools coming on the road.

These data come despite various threats that regularly hover over the DOG solution.

Unreasonable insurance prices, threats of congestion fees (canceled), an increase in taxation for motorcycles with a volume of 500-600 cc and more.

It seems that everyone understands that a two-wheeled vehicle is the most readily available and simple answer, to congestion, pollution, to the enormous losses that these causes to the Israeli economy.

Everyone - except the Ministries of Transportation and Finance.

Sun-Young is the best-selling brand in Israel

This year, too, the best-selling brand in Israel was Sun-Young with 4,705 new tools, followed by Yamaha with 3,687 new tools.

These two are some of the brands that Metro-Motor brings to Israel, which holds about 47 percent of the Israeli market.

According to Metro-Motor CEO Tomer Komorov, Metro's work premise is a continuation of the growth of the local market and they are preparing for it with many new models, including a new version of the familiar Timex.

Metro-Motor is also squinting into the car market and will start activities of at least one car brand (Karma) this year.

In third place in the list of best-selling brands in Israel is Kimco (imported by Ofer-Avnir) with 2,971 tools.

The same importer also records growth in Vespa and Husqvarna sales (among others) and ends the year with a share of about 23 percent of the domestic market.

Here, too, growth is expected to continue in the coming year and preparations are being made to launch new tools such as the new Aprilia Touareg 660 and Husqvarna's Nordic 901, which are arousing great interest in the local market.

The most obvious jump is made by Honda (imported by Meir Car) with a 60 percent growth in dedication in the past year.

With 2,966 tools sold here in 2021 compared to 1,847 tools in 2022.

Among other things, they mention the CB500X, which this year was also the best-selling motorcycle in Israel.

Oren Benano, director of the motorcycle division at Meir, stated that: “2021 is a record year for Honda Motorcycles in Israel.

"We are pleased with the success of the strategic plan we set out three years ago to establish Honda as a leading brand in the two-wheeled vehicle industry."

Honda has shown tremendous growth during 2021

KTM closes the top five best-selling brands in Israel with 1,088 tools and a growth of almost ten percent compared to 2020. Here too, the importer (DLB Motosport) expects the growth to continue into the coming year when here too, as with the other importers, they are expected to come Of new models that will increase the supply to the local customer.
