A 43-year-old Lod resident was shot dead today (Thursday) - police suspect that this is a murder in the background of a conflict between families.

The wounded man was rushed to Assaf Harofeh Hospital in a critical condition, and his death was determined after resuscitation attempts.

Lod police officers were called to the scene, and began conducting searches for the murder suspect along with collecting findings to examine the background and circumstances.

Earlier in the day, Amer Hujirat, a 3-year-old toddler, was shot dead by unknown individuals in a playground, in front of his family.

According to eyewitnesses who were present at the playground, two masked men got out of a white jeep that arrived at a nearby construction site and opened fire at an engineering tool that was working at the site.

Eyewitnesses present at the playground said they suddenly saw him fall.

Police were called to the scene and began scanning and gathering evidence from the scene.
