Rachel Herzl, 93, was surprised by the words of the Deputy Minister of Economy, who called the settlers in the Chumash "sub-human" • "He spoke in words, but in Europe it also came to deeds - it must not happen here" • About Chumash: "My granddaughter is married "Just let them learn and survive" • Chairman of Yad Vashem: "This is a phrase taken from a lexicon of Nazi racism"

Rachel Herzl, a 93-year-old native of Hungary who survived the Auschwitz extermination camp where she lost her parents, now lives in the Jewish Quarter of Jerusalem.

Herzl decided to respond to Deputy Minister Yair Golan's remarks this morning (Thursday), and the phrase he used was "subhuman."

Herzl's granddaughter is married to one of the rabbis at Yeshivat Chumash, Rabbi Menachem Ben Shachar, and she maintains close contact with the yeshiva.

"For someone to say about us here in the Land of Israel that we are a subhuman is unacceptable," Herzl said in a conversation with "Israel Today."

"Let the Chumash exist. They want to work there and take care of their land, only let them study. I would like no one in the Land of Israel to use such words, not even in politics."

"The expression is unacceptable."

Herzl's granddaughter, Michal Franklin, was killed in a suicide bombing at French Hill Junction in June 2002 while on her way back from school.

Along with her, six other Israelis were killed in the attack.

"The attack on Chumash took me back to the attack in which my granddaughter was killed. When we hear about an attack, we are very sorry, but then the family is left with the pain," she says.

Herzl stated that she was not interested in politics, and that she hoped they would allow people to live without hurting them by statements or deeds.

"The things that Yair Golan said are words, but there, in Poland and Hungary, there were also acts. Such things must not happen here either."

As mentioned, MK Golan (Meretz) this morning called the settlers in the Chumash outpost "Tati Adam" in an interview on Yaakov Ayalon's program on the Knesset channel.

"When I was commander of Judea and Samaria, I did not let anyone be there, now they are shouting their cry, how can it be imagined," said MK Golan.

"We will not mention the fact that the people who settle there are rioting in the village of Burka, destroying tombstones, making a pogrom. We, the Jewish people who have suffered from this all history, come and make a pogrom to others. In the tombstones we abuse? "The Jewish people must not be backed up, they must be forcibly removed from this place, and law and order must be restored to space.

At the Holocaust Museum attacked: "Nazi propaganda terminology"

The House of Testimony in Nir Galim also responded to MK Golan's statement: "The House of Testimony strongly condemns the words of MK Yair Golan, who referred to Jews in the same terminology used by Nazi propaganda. , All the more so from the lexicon of words of a member of the Israeli government.

"Even if the views of MK Golan are contrary to the views of the people of Chumash, he must carefully choose his words.

"We invite MK Golan to our house of testimony to get to know and see up close how the people of our people who invented the phrase 'subhuman' behaved towards our people."

Danny Dayan, chairman of Yad Vashem, said: "The phrase 'subhuman' deserves not to be said.

This is the client's expression from the lexicon of Nazi racism and we will not recognize its place in Israeli discourse in general and from the mouths of elected officials in particular, in light of its historical connection in the history of the Jewish people. "
