Die-hard fans would probably find their way around the studio of the ZDF program “Bares for Rares” blindly.
One room, however, had remained hidden from viewers - until now.
Cologne - For an unbelievable eight years, "Bares für Rares" has flickered on Germany's televisions.
The
ZDF
format is still very successful and has dream ratings.
Even if the dealer Ludwig “Lucki” Hofmaier has left the show, many other things are still the same as in the beginning: Horst Lichter moderates and the studio also looks like it used to.
Dealer desks and expert tables in front of shelves full of antiques and rarities - all embedded in the brick backdrop of the Pulheim rolling mill.
But one room in the studio has so far remained hidden from the public - that is now changing.
"Bares for Rares": Horst Lichters mini-office
There is a wooden box just a few meters away from all the cameras and the hustle and bustle of the studio.
Horst Lichter's retreat, his small office, is located in the room, which is only a few square meters in size.
In the
ZDF
documentary "From the Heart - The Man Horst Lichter", the TV veteran shows his small room for the first time.
"There are just a few boards with molton hung up, an ancient table, a chair and then it was my office," said Lichter about the mini-room.

The 59-year-old makes up for what is lacking in size with all sorts of little things.
Photos, figures, rarities, an old ID, a saber, antlers, a rifle - the wooden walls are covered over and over with memorabilia and odds and ends.
"Bares for Rares": Office as a place of retreat
The “self-made wooden box”, as the room is called in the documentary, is a kind of retreat for Horst Lichter.
Here he celebrates a "morning ceremony" every day with his friend and colleague Sven Deutschmanek or other team colleagues.
We drink coffee together and talk over the weekend or all sorts of other things.
Really cozy!
