"Attention Marie, I am going to bite", exclaims Chloé Tambosco, general practitioner at the Val 'Consult health center in Saint-Mandé (Val-de-Marne).

This Friday, January 7, Marie receives her third dose of the Covid vaccine.

With a mental handicap, she is a resident at the specialized reception center of the Val Mandé Institute.

A nurse is present in the room and holds her hand, "to reassure her".

"It's like the last time, remember?

»Asks the doctor.

Once the injection is done, Marie says, all smiles, "to be very happy".

Then Hanan's turn, she too has a mental handicap and uses a wheelchair.

“I'm not afraid, I know the caregivers well.

She is in fact taken care of in the specialized reception center at the Institute.

Avoid the crowds and the wait

Sophie Cluzel, Secretary of State in charge of disabled people made the trip to Saint-Mandé this Friday to "thank the nursing staff for their commitment".

It thus welcomes "an emblematic care center in access to care and vaccination".

The vaccination center is located inside the Val 'Consult health center.

With a particularity: it welcomes only people with a handicap.

If the patients of the Institute Val Mandé are vaccinated by the doctors and nurses of the center, it is also possible to come to be vaccinated in simple consultation.

"The idea is to offer vaccination to people who hesitate to go to a doctor or to centers," explains Dr. Chloé Tambosco.

For people with disabilities, it can be very difficult to see the crowds or to have to wait.

"

"We take much longer than a traditional consultation to listen to the patient"

The opening of this vaccination center is directly linked to the consultation center. “Today, 40% of patients are far from a care path for lack of support,” notes Hervé Pigalle, general manager of the Val Mandé Institute. The center offers a tailor-made vaccination adapted to each person: "We take a lot more time than a traditional consultation to listen to the patient, talk to him," says Chloé Tambosco. If the patient needs music to relax, for example, it can be offered. "

Since it opened a year ago, the vaccination center has welcomed around twenty people from outside the Institute.

"They are mainly adolescents for many with autism", details the general practitioner.

The team still wants to make itself known to families.

To make an appointment, “it's very simple, you have to make an appointment on Doctolib.

Then, a nurse does a telephone consultation to determine the needs and the appointment is made.
