"Ice globes": these accessories (approved by Cindy Crawford) that promise perfect skin

2022-01-07T14:32:07.753Z

These curious objects which resemble small frosted maracas arouse more and more envy. And for good reason: massaging your face with these icy spheres filled with water would be the new technique in vogue to obtain beautiful skin.

A wave of cold is sweeping down on beauty trends.

Tutorials involving freezing certain tools (like makeup sponges or jade rollerblades) are on the rise on social media, while refreshing facials that harness the benefits of cryotherapy are on the rise.

Hence the recent craze for "ice globes", these new frosted accessories that unleash passions on the web.

The Stylight shopping search engine observed at the end of 2021 a + 194% increase in requests for the keywords "ice globes" on its platform, according to data from Google Trends (1).

On TikTok, the trend has been on the rise for several weeks, already counting more than 24 million views on the hashtag #iceglobes.

Energizing, antiviral, anesthetic… The unsuspected benefits of cold

Inspired by Korean beauty rituals and hitherto reserved for professional spa treatments, “ice globes” are now available in our bathroom. As their name suggests, these “ice globes” come in the form of two small spheres filled with water and each connected to a handle. Placed in the refrigerator or freezer before use, they slip over the skin after applying your facial treatment, like a facial massage.

A decongestant and toning effect

Their invigorating action stimulates blood circulation and boosts lymphatic drainage. Practiced daily, this technique helps to tighten the pores, tone the skin and promote the absorption of creams and serums. Its virtues are therefore similar to those of "skin-icing" (a method that consists of massaging your face with an ice cube), without the discomfort of directly applying the ice to the skin. On the area around the eye, they decongest the eyes (upon waking up or after a day spent in front of the screens) and help reduce dark circles and puffiness. Some also use it to relieve small tensions in the neck.

Cindy Crawford has already incorporated them into her beauty routine for a long time, as she shows in a tutorial posted on the YouTube channel of

magazine in 2020. The model uses the gold infused globes of the brand Glycelene (sold at a price of $ 125), but it's those from Skin Gym that are popular online, where searches have jumped 97% according to Stylight (and which are already out of stock on the Beauty Bay e-shop).

The Sephora Collection brand has also launched its own low-cost mobèle (€ 19.99).
