The Directorate of Internal Trade and Consumer Protection in Daraa organized during the past year 1,694 catering seizures against violating commercial activities.
The director of internal trade, Dr. Ahmed Al-Awad, told SANA reporter that the violations included not announcing prices, not presenting regular invoices, selling at an excessive price, refraining from selling and trading in relief materials and materials subsidized by the state, and seizing unknown and expired materials.
He pointed out that the seizures included owners of public cars, meat shops, owners and investors of gas stations and bakeries, for violations related to not declaring a service allowance, charging an increase, disposing of and trading in state-supported materials, producing poorly made bread, decreasing the weight of the loaf, and others.
Al-Awad explained that the consumer protection patrols organized last year also seizures of fraud and violations in specifications, data and miscellaneous, closed more than 70 events and pulled from the market about 245 samples to show the extent of their conformity with the Syrian standard specifications.
