Actor Sidney Poitier, Oscar winner and civil rights activist, died on Thursday at the age of 94, as confirmed to CNN by Clint Watson, press secretary to the Prime Minister of the Bahamas.
Poitier was the first black actor to win an Oscar, making him the first black celebrity in the Hollywood industry.
