Young Aktham Ismail, the team leader, said in a statement to SANA reporter that the aim of this voluntary campaign is to help the vegetation cover to recover after the fires that affected large areas of mountains and forests during the past years and to encourage young people to contribute to building their homeland and enhance the feeling of their ability to sow hope and life despite all difficulties. He praised the efforts and facilities provided by the Directorate of Agriculture in terms of providing free plants and agricultural equipment, in addition to sending supervisory engineers and workers to help volunteers and provide them with the necessary instructions and instructions to ensure that the work is done correctly.

Engineer Samer Abdo, assistant head of the Forestry Department in the Directorate of Agriculture, indicated that the afforestation plan for the 2021/2022 season targets 800 hectares throughout Lattakia Governorate, including burned and degraded sites as a result of encroachments and areas with less dense vegetation cover, indicating that the area of ​​the site targeted by the afforestation campaign today is 3 hectares Estimated the number of plantings per acre between 40 and 50 plants.

Abdo explained that the fruiting pine planting was chosen for its tolerance of fluctuating climatic conditions and rapid growth, as well as its economic feasibility and environmental benefit in terms of air purification and its importance in enhancing the aesthetics of the region, which has always been a prominent tourist destination.

Ali Nabil Hatem, a volunteer with the Syria Light team for more than a year and a half, pointed out the importance of spreading the culture of volunteerism and teamwork among the young generation because they are the pillars of the future.

In turn, the volunteers Jaafar Mikael and Yasmine Shoman indicated that they found in the campaign an opportunity to participate in restoring life and greenery to our mountains and forests, which constitute an outlet for them and all Syrians, and attract recreational and sports enthusiasts due to the tourism and environmental elements it provides.
