On the 17th anniversary of the death of asylum seeker Oury Jalloh, strangers placed a burning mattress in front of the entrance to the justice center in Halle.
At around 1:40 a.m. on Friday morning, witnesses saw five strangers dressed in black in front of the building that houses the public prosecutor's office, among other things, the police said.
When the emergency services arrived, the mattress was almost completely burned and the perpetrators had disappeared.
Halle - The police did not want to explicitly confirm a connection with the memory of Oury Jalloh on Friday.
However, it does not rule out a political background.
Shortly after the crime, an unknown user posted a picture of the burning mattress in front of the justice center on the left-wing extremist online platform “Indymedia” and wrote, among other things: “17 years ago, Oury Jalloh was tortured, murdered and burned by Dessau police officers to cover up traces . The circumstances of death are not considered clear even after two regional court trials.
According to investigations by the authorities, Jalloh is said to have started a fire in the detention cell himself, although his hands and feet were handcuffed in the room.
Several initiatives doubt this representation and accuse the public prosecutor and police of covering up.
