In order to increase road safety, the municipality of Hohenkammer is purchasing twelve boards for measuring speed this year.

Hohenkammer

- For around 25,000 euros, the municipality of Hohenkammer is buying twelve devices this year to show drivers their speed, including a visual warning if they are driving too fast.

The devices are also expected to provide specific information on the need for speed cameras.

(By the way: Everything from the region is now also available in our regular Freising newsletter.)

The municipal administration has drawn up a concept for possible locations of the speed displays.

These should be set up in districts in which the municipal traffic monitoring system does not carry out any controls.

After the advice to motorists was approved, the list has now also been approved by the local council.

Measuring points planned at focal points

The concept provides for information signs at the two entrances to the state road in Eglhausen and at the two entrances to the communal connecting road in Untermarbach, Unterwohlbach, Deutldorf and Schlipps. A board is to be placed on Pfarrer-Egger-Strasse in Hohenkammer, and another is intended to replace the existing mobile device. The costs of around 25,000 euros will be included in the 2022 budget.

In addition, the speed indicators should also provide valuable information. The devices record vehicle movements and speeds so that the community then also has facts about where people are actually driving too fast. At such focal points, measuring points for municipal traffic monitoring could then also be set up in a targeted manner. Mayor Mario Berti emphasized that the community wanted to do something at the request of many citizens - and that is why the display boards are now being procured. He passed on the assessment of the police to the local council that regular speed checks change the behavior of many drivers, so the information boards could have a learning effect, even if the wallet is spared. The community wants the speedometer, should that be possible, erect in the localities on existing street lamps. The aim is to keep the costs for the construction and the necessary connections as low as possible.
