China opposes any foreign attempts to undermine Kazakhstan's stability

Chinese President Xi Jinping affirmed his country's firm opposition to any foreign attempts to undermine Kazakhstan's stability and threaten its security, praising the measures taken by Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev to calm the situation.

In a message he addressed to his Kazakh counterpart today, Jinping reiterated his country's categorical rejection of any attempt by foreign parties to stir up unrest and incitement in Kazakhstan and to harm the friendship between China and Kazakhstan and disrupt cooperation between the two countries.

The Chinese president said: You decisively took strong measures at crucial moments and quickly calmed the situation, which reflected your position as a responsible party, the sense of duty as a politician and the high sense of responsibility you have towards your country and people.

Some regions of Kazakhstan witnessed riots and looting of public and private property, which prompted Tokayev to declare a state of emergency, noting that "extremist terrorist gangs supported from abroad" led the riots.
