The garbage cans are overflowing all over the country.

The collection of the rubbish after Christmas had to be canceled in many places in England.

The reason: There are too many staff absences in the municipal companies.

Either people are infected with the omicron variant or they have to stay at home due to quarantine regulations.

According to the ONS statistics agency, one in ten people in London is infected.

The shortage of skilled workers is noticeable in all areas of life.

In many supermarkets the shelves are emptying.

Even before the spreading Omikron variant, there were delivery problems due to the effects of Brexit.

Now the supply situation is coming to a head: There is a lack of milk, bread and fruit in particular on the shelves.

The situation in the hospitals is also bad at the moment.

Several British clinics have declared disaster due to blatant staff shortages.

However, the government has so far rejected stricter restrictions on the population, citing the relatively low number of hospital admissions and deaths.

Instead, London announced that it would relax the testing regulations for asymptomatic infected people in order to mitigate the effects of the record infection rates.
