Despite the corona pandemic, many Germans are already planning their first vacation for 2022. Some trend goals are emerging.
One thing is clear: it should be sunny.
In the last few months, travel planning * has become quite difficult due to changing entry regulations and corona protective measures.
Despite these obstacles - or perhaps because of them - Germans still enjoy traveling.
According to an analysis of thousands of early bookings in the past few weeks by the online booking
portal HolidayCheck
, every third person has already booked their vacation for the first half of 2022.
Germans are particularly fond of sunny travel destinations.

The Turkish Riviera is a particularly popular travel destination for April and May.
According to
HolidayCheck
, around
18 percent of all bookings
are made on the 250-kilometer stretch of coast on the Mediterranean Sea.
Check24
already reported something similar
in its own analysis of booking data - here, too, the Side & Alanya region on the Turkish south coast came in first place among the most booked vacation spots for 2022. In addition, vacationers this year seem to be impressed by the beaches of Egypt. Hurghada and Safaga are particularly popular among package tourists. Nevertheless, due to the corona pandemic, a travel warning from the Federal Foreign Office still applies to Egypt.

Apart from that, Mallorca is not spoiled for choice this year either.
The Spanish holiday island is a
long-runner
among Germans and ranks third among the most booked travel destinations for 2022. At
Check24
, the Balearic island even took second place among the most popular destinations.
Thus, the stricter rules regarding party tourism do not seem to detract from the island’s popularity.
Other destinations that are already being booked include Crete, Fuerteventura, Grand Canaria and Rhodes.
The main reason for this is that these destinations can be reached in just a few hours by flight.
