The fire brigade in Bad Salzuflen was called on Thursday to rescue a fat cat from a tree.
But the animal turned out to be a raccoon.
Bad Salzuflen - A raccoon who enjoyed climbing caused some excitement on Thursday in Bad Salzuflen (North Rhine-Westphalia).
A resident had previously called the volunteer fire brigade because he was worried about a "well-fed cat" high up in a tree.
The rescue workers approached the four-legged friend with a turntable ladder - and identified the supposed cat as a raccoon looking through binoculars.

The fire brigade announced on Friday that he had “calmly enjoyed a bath in the midday sun”.
He only recognized the rescue workers with a "short, tired look".
"A resident of the nearby forest reported that the raccoon often makes itself comfortable in the tree," said a fire department spokesman.
Since the wild animals are actually nocturnal, the sight was also something unusual for the emergency services.
Raccoons are good climbers.
So the rescuers withdrew without having achieved anything and left the animal in the treetop, where it continued to enjoy its sunbathing.
