Friday morning, after the authorities announced that 26
"rioters"
had been
"liquidated"
and 18 police officers killed the day before in Almaty, the Kazakh head of state cracked a martial speech against those he calls
"Bandits and terrorists"
, ordering the police to
"open fire on them to kill, without warning".
Not a word, on the other hand, on the fact that the demonstrations which started on Sunday draw their origin from a deep socio-economic malaise largely due to the bad governance of the ruling circles.
