Everyone should be able to participate in the new inclusive climbing group run by Franziska Mock and the DAV - with and without previous knowledge, with and without impairments.
Icking / Ebenhausen - There are ideas that you just can't get out of your head.
Franziska Mock felt the same way.
The special educator and trainer for sport climbing at the Alpine Club (Wolfratshausen section) is in the process of setting up an inclusive climbing group in Icking under the umbrella of the DAV.
The trigger was a conversation with a colleague about a year ago.
Their son was born with trisomy 21 and has meanwhile reached the teenage age.
"We talked about the fact that there are hardly any sports offers for children and young people with disabilities," says the 29-year-old, who is currently working at the inclusive Montessori school Biberkor (municipality of Berg) and who has been looking after youngsters even earlier Has taken care of people with disabilities.
"She herself has been looking for a way for her son to do sports with others for years."
"Everyone should be able to participate"
Mock got his coaching license at the Alpine Club and is allowed to look after up to eight children at the same time. Moving from the state capital Munich to Ebenhausen also gave her more time to volunteer. “There's no point if I have an hour's drive to go before I can start,” she says. “And Icking offered us a great opportunity here with the climbing wall in the sports hall of the Rainer-Maria-Rilke-Gymnasium. So if not now, then when? "
For the 29-year-old, the focus is clearly on the idea of inclusion.
“Everyone should be able to take part - regardless of whether they have previous knowledge or not.” It is more important that the group fits together.
Therefore, the age is of secondary importance for the Ebenhauser.
Because a young person with special needs could definitely be on the same level as a ten or twelve year old.
“I don't want to think in terms of categories here,” emphasizes Mock.
"And: For someone who is more athletic, there are many other offers at the Alpine Club."
Climbing together and being together should relieve the children of any fear of each other.
“People with disabilities belong in our midst, not on the fringes.
Contact with one another should be a matter of course, ”says the 29-year-old.
Mock would like to start on Friday, January 14th at 3:30 p.m. in the sports hall of the Icking high school.
The one-hour course is initially planned every 14 days.
And the demand is great: "We already have five registrations to get a taste of our climbing group."
