First spring-like temperatures and stormy winds, then continuous rain and zero degrees.
The new year got off to a turbulent start in terms of weather.
Is there a threat of winter now?
Munich - You'd think that the year 2022 just doesn't know where it's going when it comes to the weather.
In the few days that the year is so far, one could experience several seasons in Munich, for example.
At the turn of the year there was a whopping 14 degrees including a strong wind, then it rained, a temperature drop followed.
And now?
The thermometer is already showing cool temperatures, but according to weather expert Dominik Jung from wetter.net, it could now be enough for a small blanket of snow.
Weather: Is there a threat of winter in Munich?
Expert shows snow maps for almost all of Germany
"This weather map makes the hearts of winter fans beat faster," said Jung in his latest weather video from wetter.net.
And indeed: If it goes according to the map of the European weather service, almost all of Germany, with the exception of the extreme west, expects a closed snow cover. In Munich, therefore, until Sunday evening, January 9th, there would be six centimeters of snow.
But how realistic is this scenario?
Weather: Snow everywhere in Germany?
Winter fans can look forward to it
Young after, these cards should be used with caution.
“The European weather model likes to exaggerate,” says the qualified meteorologist.
Especially from a height of 500 meters, snow is almost certain to be expected.
In addition, the low mountain ranges and the Alps expect fresh snow at a height of up to 20 centimeters, says Jung.
Munich winter fans can look forward to this: In the city there should be a small blanket of snow, further south towards the mountains the "real" winter landscape awaits.
