Senior Inspector Chen Zeming of the Regional Task Force of the Marine Police Small Boat Division explained the facts of the case. The Marine Police and Customs recently discovered that there were illegal elements smuggling in the waters west of Hong Kong. 6th) Anti-illegal immigration and anti-smuggling operations were carried out at night.

At 2:55 am today, officers spotted two men driving a cargo speedboat into Hong Kong waters and heading for a shoal in the Ha Pak Nai River Road, Yuen Long.

At the same time, a van also drove to the shallows.

When the speedboat was parked in the shallows, the two men on board immediately carried the cargo onto the shallows. After that, the van driver and the two men also worked together to move the goods in the van to the speedboat.

The law enforcement officers suspected that the three men were smuggling and acted immediately. Upon seeing the three men abandon the vehicle and jumped onto the speedboat and drove away from the shallows.

The crew of the small boats of the Marine Police pursued them immediately, but the speedboat eventually fled to the inland waters north of Xiabaini.

The police then notified mainland border guards to follow up.

The officer discovered that the license plate of the van was not registered. It is believed that someone was driving with false documents. There were 48 boxes of smuggled goods on board.

In addition, personnel found 12 plastic boxes in the shallows, containing 30 different types of cats and 7 dogs. The cats and dogs were frightened and barked.

These plastic boxes are small in size. Each box contains 3 to 4 cats and dogs. The cats and dogs do not have chips. They are believed to be from the Mainland. They were smuggled into Hong Kong and resold to local pet shops.

The police have contacted the Ai Association for inspections of cats and dogs. There is no major problem at first. It will be taken care of by the Fisheries and Conservation Department.

Senior Inspector Li Lin of the Sea Area Investigation Team of the Port and Maritime Division of Hong Kong Customs pointed out that the 48 boxes of seized food supplements, including 460 kilograms of bullwhip and 325 kilograms of untreated deer tail, had a market value of about 4.1 million yuan.

Customs believes that mainland citizens will have a demand for food supplements after the winter, and smugglers have spotted opportunities to smuggle food ingredients for resale in an attempt to evade mainland tariffs.

Li Lin said that if smugglers successfully smuggle bullwhip and deer tail, they can evade 80% and 40% tariffs respectively.

The customs found that no refrigeration equipment was installed on the van. Although the seized refrigerated bullwhips and deer tails were loaded in styrofoam boxes, and the bullwhips were also vacuum-packed, these food materials must be stored in a low-temperature environment. Therefore, the customs questioned the reasons for the food materials. Quality and hygiene.
