Realschule Tegernseer Tal: Opening of extension building delayed

Only the digital boards are still missing: In mid-February, school principal Tobias Schreiner wants to move into the extension with the graduating classes.

From the outside, everything would be perfect for the classes to move into the extension of the Tegernseer Tal secondary school.
It was planned for the beginning of the year, but has now been delayed.

- "It's the way it is with construction projects," says school principal Tobias Schreiner soberly. "Sometimes things develop differently." In this case, it is not bottlenecks or delays due to the corona situation. It is the subsequent decision in favor of the latest digital technology that postpones the originally planned move by several weeks at the turn of the year. "We get digital boards," reveals Schreiner on the holiday phone, "and that was not part of the tender." But because the Federal Ministry for Education and Research provided funding from the Federal Ministry for Education and Research, the decision was made not only to expand the building, but to include all of the classrooms to equip with digital boards. In mid-February, i.e. around the school year, the boards should be installed and moving in should be possible.The digital premium school - the Realschule was officially named the “reference school for media education” as early as 2015 - is now followed by the digital model school.
Construction schedule adhered to
As far as the new building is concerned, Schreiner is completely satisfied with the work: “The schedule was adhered to,” he praises, and so the 34 by 13 meter and exactly 7.67 meter high building with a flat roof was ready before Christmas handed over to the district as the client - a good year after the groundbreaking ceremony.
A few minor defects can now be repaired before the classrooms are actually filled.
The new building has five more classrooms as well as two offices, with which the space problem in the schoolhouse, which was only opened in 2014, should now be solved.
663 pupils started the school year last, spread over 27 classes.
Technical rooms will therefore be available as such again in the future; they were recently converted into classrooms for reasons of space.
The five graduating classes are to move into the new building so that they can prepare for the exams in peace.
State-of-the-art technology in the classroom
State-of-the-art digital technology helps with this: 86-inch screens will enable first-class display formats in the future; the connection with laptops or wireless service devices of the teachers makes it possible.
Each board costs around 3,000 euros, plus costs for installation and the associated electronic equipment in the rooms, 45 pieces have been ordered according to Schreiner.
The school director expressly praises the fact that the district has committed itself to the procurement of subsidies.
Despite all the anticipation for the new age, Schreiner starts the year 2022 with mixed feelings: Omikron and the hitherto uncertain handling of the virus variant in schools still worries him.
But that's a different piece of paper, or rather: a digital board.
