If there is one manager who is currently on a roll, it is probably Apple boss
Tim Cook
: In the pandemic, thanks to lockdowns and home offices, Apple sold large quantities of notebooks, iPads and iPhones, which led to records in sales and profits.
Apple's sales rose to $ 365.8 billion in 2021, and operating profit at the end of the year was $ 108.9 billion, according to the company's recently published filings for the SEC.
Apple's share price rose 80 percent in the past year alone, making the company the first US company these days to break the magical mark of three trillion dollars in market value.
CEO Cook (61) is also benefiting from the soaring Apple shares, as he is one of the largest private shareholders in the iPhone manufacturer.
But that's not all: Apple's success story pays off for the CEO in another way: Tim Cook received almost $ 100 million in earnings for the past year, as Apple's recently published SEC documents also show.
In the tenth year at the helm of the company from Cupertino, California, the Apple boss's earnings have risen to $ 98.7 million, according to the company.
A year earlier, Cook had collected $ 14.8 million, the increase within twelve months is more than 500 percent.
The management compensation for 2021 reflects the records in sales and profits as well as the outstanding earnings for the shareholders of the company, writes Apple in the SEC filings. The "total shareholder return", that is, the overall performance for investors from 2011 to 2021, is almost 1200 percent. The ten years with Cook at the top have been a "remarkable decade" for Apple, the company said against the background, and in 2021 the CEO received a share bonus for the first time since moving to the top.
Nothing has changed in Cook's fixed base salary: The Apple boss receives a fixed fee of three million dollars a year.
The vast majority of his earnings are also attributable to share-based awards, which were granted to Cook in 2021, and which are worth $ 82.3 million.
As the "Wall Street Journal" reports, Cook was also entitled to additional shares valued at several hundred million dollars that had already been allocated to him.
The US magazine "Forbes" currently estimates the Apple boss's fortune at a total of 1.5 billion dollars.
According to "WSJ", Cook has already announced that he will donate the majority of his assets to charity.
