The Super Bowl will be held in Los Angeles next month despite the growing number of COVID-19 cases in the county.
"I'm really confident this event will happen here in Los Angeles," Dr. Barbara Ferrer, director of the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health, said at a news conference Thursday.
"There is no indication that it will not happen."

Ferrer said the health department is working closely with the NFL and SoFi Stadium to ensure fans and the community are safe.
"We will work closely to improve security if we are still in the midst of a terrible surge," Ferrer added.
"My hope is that by the time we get to February, we are down on this huge amount of community transmission."
