A New York court tonight (Friday) overturned the charge against former state governor Andrew Cuomo for sexual harassment, after the prosecution questioned its ability to reach a conviction, and asked the court to overturn the charge.
"We examined all the information before us and came to the conclusion that we could not reach a conviction," said District Attorney Jennifer McCany.
Judge Holly Traxler said at trial that she accepts the prosecution's right to determine who will be prosecuted, and accepted McCann's request.
The charge of this offense is considered the most serious of the offenses in which the former governor is suspected and which led to his resignation from office.
However, the complainants against him can still sue him in civil proceedings, where the standard of proof is lower.
Cuomo has denied the charges against him since they were first brought up to date.
As I recall, an employee of the governor's office claimed that Cuomo put his hands under her shirt and grabbed her breasts while the two were at the governor's estate.
Her testimony was joined by 11 other women who claimed that the former governor had harassed them.
