In this month of January, the number of Covid-19 cases is breaking records in France and around the world.
Every day, hundreds of thousands of French people discover that their test is positive.
A real headache then begins, especially as health protocols are constantly evolving ... Who to notify?
How long to isolate yourself?
Can your children continue to go to school?
Le Figaro
takes stock, according to the different situations (age, vaccination).

Before getting to the heart of the matter, it should be noted that in the event of a positive antigenic test, it is no longer necessary to carry out a PCR to confirm the diagnosis.
The objective is to unclog the laboratories, which are literally taken by storm.
On the other hand, if your self-test is positive, you must always supplement it with an antigen or a PCR in order to be listed.
Start by isolating yourself
When you find out that you have been infected with Covid, the first thing to do is self-isolate.
Health Insurance must contact you by phone or SMS (to 38663).
Given the huge number of infections, this connection is not immediate.
It often occurs the next day.
You must also list your contact cases and prevent them: those with which you did not respect the barrier gestures 48 hours before the onset of your symptoms and seven days before the sample if you are asymptomatic.

The duration of isolation has changed since January 3, and depends on your situation:
If you have a
complete immunization schedule
(“
ie with a booster or an initial vaccination cycle that was completed less than seven months ago
”): you must self-isolate for
seven days
. After five days, you can retest (antigen or PCR). If it is negative and you have had no (or no) symptoms for 48 hours, the isolation can then be lifted. Otherwise (or if you haven't done it again), no. These rules apply to all young people under the age of 12, whether or not they are vaccinated. Note that 5-11 year olds have been eligible since December 22, 2021. Their vaccination now requires the agreement of both parents. This system also applies to pupils over 12 years old who are fully vaccinated.
Regarding caregivers, the rules are a little different: "
To ensure the continuity of care, an exceptional exemption from isolation for essential activities in the health and medico-social sector and for asymptomatic and not very symptomatic cases is possible.
», Says Health Insurance.
If you have an
incomplete vaccination schedule
or are not vaccinated, you should self-isolate for
ten days
.
It is possible to do another test on the seventh day.
If the latter is negative, and here again you have not had any symptoms for 48 hours, the isolation can be lifted.
Pupils over 12 who are not or not fully vaccinated are subject to the same measures.
In these two cases, there is no need to repeat a test when the solitary confinement is lifted (seven or ten days).
Notify your employer
Another point of tension, professional activity.
If you test positive, you must
tell your employer
.
Also your possible contact cases within the company.
And you must not go to your place of work (except in the exceptional case explained above).
You must therefore
telework
for the time of your isolation, which depends on your vaccination schedule, if your job - and your condition - allows it.

Otherwise, "
the Health Insurance will contact you to provide you with a
work stoppage
".
A stop that your employer cannot refuse.
He also cannot fire you based on your state of health.
"
The employee dismissed for this reason will be able to seize the industrial tribunal for unfair dismissal
", specifies the government.
It is important to note that the employer cannot force you to present a certificate of recovery to return as long as the isolation has been followed.
It is also not necessary to test negative.
As indicated in the previous paragraph, you do not need to retest after your isolation.
If you have children
Your child or children are in fact
in contact
(if you live with or have seen them).
For children who are
under 12
and who have not had the Covid in the last two months (if so, no need for testing or isolation): they do not have to isolate themselves, they are vaccinated or not;
they can then return to school immediately if they present a negative PCR or antigen test, followed by two control self-tests (on the second and fourth days).
Of course if the test is positive, the rules explained above apply.
For children who are
over 12 years old and are vaccinated
: they do not have to isolate themselves and can return to school after the three required tests, tests similar to those under 12, if they are obviously negative.
For children who
are over 12 but are not vaccinated
: in this case they must remain isolated for seven days, without going to school.
In addition, they must immediately perform a PCR or antigen test.
Even if the result is negative, the one week delay is incompressible.
In all cases, notify their school as quickly as possible, and possibly the sports and cultural associations they frequent, as well as their potential contact cases.
Make arrangements at home
Your spouse is also a contact case.
If the person is fully vaccinated, they do not have to quarantine if the first test performed (PCR or antigen) is negative.
The government recommends, however, not to share the space (when possible) with the members of the household, to clean up their homes: ventilation, avoid the vacuum cleaner which disperses the dust and favor the mop, systematic cleaning of the surfaces of the house. contact, washing clothes at 60 degrees for at least half an hour ... It is also advisable to respect barrier gestures as best as possible, such as wearing a mask, physical distancing or limiting social interactions.
Note that Health Insurance can help a sick adult find other accommodation in order to respect the isolation period.
If you experience breathing difficulties,
immediately call 15 or 114 (deaf or hard of hearing)
