Today, the second wind turbine to generate electric power was connected to the public electricity network in Syria, where the new turbine began to supply the network with two and a half megawatts of electricity per hour.
Engineer Bassam Al-Youssef, Director of Planning and Statistics at the General Electricity Company of Homs, confirmed in a statement to SANA reporter that connecting the second wind turbine came as a continuation of the project to generate electricity from wind energy with a capacity of 5 megawatts, after the first turbine with a capacity of two and a half megawatts was licensed and began production in 2019.
Al-Yousef indicated that this turbine supplies the electrical network with an acceptable amount due to its stability in the region, especially that a place with a very good wind potential was chosen, pointing to the importance of this project and its use of national hands and expertise.
In turn, Rabie Elias, Executive Director of Woodrham Heavy Industries, which is executing the project, explained that connecting the second wind turbine to the electrical network was completed successfully, about two years after connecting the first turbine, indicating that one wind turbine contributes to enlightening five thousand homes.
Elias indicated that the company was able to complete and manufacture the turbine with all its components, including the tower, blades, and control devices, with high accuracy comparable to international standards, and installed with national expertise.
The CEO of the company pointed to the importance of supporting industries in the field of alternative energies, pointing to the company's intention to install more wind turbines to use clean energy, as studies are being conducted for several regions in Syria to establish wind turbine farms in the future.
