Global health identifies factors associated with the outbreak of an omicron mutant

The World Health Organization considered that the spread of the Omicron mutated from the Corona virus is due to a group of factors, including the mutations it carries and the increase in social mixing.

"Omicron spread very quickly among people for several reasons, the first of which is the mutations carried by the mutant, which allow it to attach to human cells more easily," Maria Van Kerkhove, head of the technical team in the organization's emergency disease unit, said in a statement.

Kerkhove indicated that the second reason for the spread of the mutation is related to the so-called immune escape, which means that "the infection can be repeated in those who have been previously infected and who have been vaccinated."

And the health official added that there is “another reason that we are witnessing a proliferation of omicron in the upper respiratory tract, which differs in this from Delta and other mutant,” noting that “in addition to these factors, the spread of the mutant is also driven by increased mixing of people and spending more time in closed places in the summer. Winter in the northern hemisphere and not adhere to preventive measures such as physical distancing.

And the World Health Organization reported that about 9.5 million new cases of “Covid 19” were recorded last week, which is a record number, an increase of 71 percent over the previous week.
