To your computer keyboards!

If you want to give your opinion on the look of the future T1 tramway trainsets (which will replace the current rolling stock within 2 years), you have about two weeks to vote on the internet.

Ile-de-France Mobilités (IDFM), has indeed just launched, this Friday, a new consultation "on line" to allow Internet users to decide on the aspect of the "front-exterior faces" of the new trains of the line. tram that connects Asnières (Hauts-de-Seine) to Noisy-le-Sec (Seine-Saint-Denis).

The transport regulatory body in Ile-de-France is not at its first attempt in terms of a participatory approach.

Last year, two consultations of the same type were set up.

To choose the design of the new RER B first, then that of the future metro line 18 of the Grand Paris Express.

In both cases, tens of thousands of Internet users have spoken.

Three models presented

For the new consultation, a dedicated internet page (https://designdevostransports.iledefrance-mobilites.fr/) was opened. Ile-de-France residents, transport users or not, have until January 21 at midnight to log in and click on their favorite design. As for the previous polls, the manufacturer Alstom (to whom a “firm” order for 37 new T1 trainsets has already been placed) offers voters to choose from three options ... And as for the previous polls, it takes a little "Squint" to spot the discreet differences between the 3 suggested models.

More or less panoramic windshield, more or less conspicuous light trim ... Whatever option is chosen, users will have to wait until 2024 before seeing the new T1 trainsets replacing the current cars with slightly angular shapes. dated and some of which have been in circulation since the inauguration of the first section of the line (from Bobigny to Saint-Denis) in ... 1992.

Air conditioning and on-board sensors

The future trainsets will be equipped with air conditioning, video protection, “dynamic” audio and visual passenger information systems and on-board sensors making it possible to measure user flows in real time. More "capacity", they will also be able to carry 15% more passengers than current models. With an annual attendance of 62 million people (before the health crisis), T1 ranks second among the most used tram lines in Ile-de-France.

Already extended several times (in 2003 on the east side and then in 2012 on the west side), line T1 still needs to be extended at both ends.

But the works of extension towards the east, initially planned until Fontenay-sous-bois in the Val-de-Marne, will for the moment stop at Montreuil in Seine-Saint-Denis, for lack of funds to go further away.

In addition to the 37 trainsets already ordered, IDFM has planned an “optional tranche” of 83 additional trainsets to adapt to future changes to the line.
