Waiting times due to 2G controls, not all lifts in operation: none of this could slow down the rush to the ski areas Spitzingsee and Sudelfeld on the bridge day.
Spitzingsee / Sudelfeld
- late risers had no chance of getting onto the slopes on the bridge day.
Shortly after 9 a.m. - only half an hour after the start of operations - the parking spaces at Sudelfeld were full.
A similar picture emerged in the Spitzingsee ski area.
"It's extremely busy," said Antonia Asenstorfer, press spokeswoman for the Alpenplus ski areas, in an interview with our newspaper on Friday afternoon.
Despite 2G and little snow: huge interest in skiing
Several factors came together: the bridge day in question, the really wintry weather for the first time during the Christmas holidays and the fact that a number of board fans had rediscovered "skiing at home" in view of the Corona travel restrictions.
“The interest is really huge,” enthuses Asenstorfer.
What is good for the lift operators after the lockdown losses of the previous season also requires a lot of stamina from winter sports enthusiasts.
If you were there early enough and found a parking space, you had to queue in the long lines in front of the cash registers.
"Because of the 2G controls, everyone has to queue individually," sighs Asenstorfer.
But the staff have been increased again and the people are very patient.
Not all lifts open yet
After the mild days with unpaved slopes, they were rewarded with good snow conditions again.
However, not all major ski runs were open yet.
For example, the Osthanglift at the Lyra and the Nordhanglift at the Firstalm stood idle on the Spitzingsee, in the Sudelfeld the Schöngratbahn and the Rosengassenlift.
Asenstorfer assumes that the conditions will improve in the coming days.
“We snow what we can.” Even during the day, because the temperatures allow it.
The storage ponds are well filled by meltwater and rainwater.
Also interesting: other ski areas also stormed by winter sports enthusiasts
The Brauneck in the neighboring district of Bad Tölz-Wolfratshausen, which is back in operation after the break caused by the lack of snow, should now relieve the local ski areas.
The high volume of traffic on Friday in the Miesbach district, on the other hand, was not only caused by winter sports enthusiasts, but also by the hour-long closure of the A8 due to a serious accident between Irschenberg and Bad Aibling.
