How effective are covid-19 pills?

The Federal Commission for the Protection against Sanitary Risks (Cofepris) reported this Friday that they have given the green light for the emergency use of oral treatment for covid-19 called Merck's molnupivar.
The Molnupiravir pill was recently approved for emergency use by the US Federal Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
In a statement, Cofepris explained that the treatment is intended for patients with covid-19 at high risk of complication and with mild or moderate symptoms.
In order to obtain this treatment in Mexico, a medical prescription will be required, added the authorities.
