China announced today that more than 1.21 billion people of its population have been vaccinated against the emerging corona virus.
"A total of 2.89 billion doses of anti-coronavirus vaccines have been fully used across China as of yesterday," Xinhua news agency quoted Chinese National Health Commission spokesman Mi Feng as saying at a press conference.
Feng pointed out that the average daily infection cases were close to 1.9 million new infections worldwide during the past week, noting that China is facing increasing pressure due to imported cases of the Corona virus.
China began the vaccination program in December last year, with priority given to groups most at risk, including medical workers, workers and students abroad.
