(ANSA) - ROME, JAN 08 - The meeting of the Ministry of Education - Trade Unions has just been held to illustrate the measures issued by the Council of Ministers to combat the spread of Covid-19 in schools.

Francesco Sinopoli, general secretary of the FLC CGIL, declares: "The school was actually disarmed in the face of this new wave that was largely predictable. It was pretended for me that the security measures were no longer needed against all logical and scientific evidence. in fact, eliminating distancing and returning to classes in many cases of 28 or 30 pupils. It was decided to save resources on staff and allocate them to other measures other than school. An intervention on ventilation was not even considered. it was a priority then even the indications for the Christmas break should have been more prudent. Choosing to put consumption first is a choice that has a price ".

The inadequacy of this government provision, observes the union manager, "is under the eyes of the country and on the gravity of the situation the absence of the CTS which could have ensured the necessary coordination on the measures to be applied to a delicate and complex system such as that of the school that speaks to 10 million people, pupils, families and workers.

Instead, we acknowledge that in the third year of the pandemic we are still grappling with the forward flight of regions and local authorities which in fact disavow central decisions.

On the contrary, a clear national measure, commensurate with the gravity of the situation, taken in good time and not at the end of the Christmas holidays, which would restore the Ddi for a transitional phase, would guarantee responsible management and unified governance of the school system and would avoid fragmentation and anarchy of local decisions.

It is clear to everyone that schools risk not opening or closing after a short time, because in many cases, already today, the staff are in quarantine or on sick leave, let alone what may happen on Monday ". (ANSA).
