In Lebanon, the entire power grid collapsed on Saturday - the state-owned energy company EDL blames protesters critical of the government.
EDL announced that all power plants had been stopped.
Previously, demonstrators stormed an important distribution station and damaged the technology there.
There is a "total blackout in the entire territory of Lebanon," said the state electricity supplier. The failure hits a country where hours of power outages are already the order of the day. The reason for this is the financial crisis in Lebanon, the country cannot import the oil it needs for its energy supply.
The demonstrators who attacked the distribution station in the Aramun region north of Beirut apparently wanted to protest against the recurring power outages and the government's inaction.
Lebanon is currently plagued by one of the worst economic crises in the world since 1850.
The country is struggling with gasoline and drug shortages, among other things.
The bankrupt state can no longer finance numerous subsidies and imports.
There was already a nationwide power outage in October due to a lack of fuel.
