In winter it is not easy for the homeless to brave the cold.

The evangelical pastor Edzard Everts therefore asks for donations for a new invention from the Netherlands.

Ebersberg - Many people have to survive the winter without a solid roof over their heads. In the freezing cold, no easy endeavor for the homeless, but often a struggle for bare survival. In addition to emergency accommodation and other well-known aids, the Protestant pastor and diaconal officer of the Rosenheim dean's office Edzard Everts in Ebersberg is now promoting an invention from the Netherlands: "Sheltersuits".

These are protective suits that can be divided into anorak and footmuff.

They are practically an extremely resilient, weatherproof sleeping bag.

Made from abrasion-resistant tarpaulin on the outside and warmly lined on the inside, according to Everts.

During the day, the lower part can be rolled up and the sheltersuit can be used as a jacket.

The production is resource-saving and completely made of leftover materials, such as donated blankets and sleeping bags, according to the Ebersberger.

“And people are employed in production who have no direct access to the labor market,” says the Diakonia officer.

In order to bring the idea of the Sheltersuit closer to people, Pastor Everts brought one to the service and introduced it to his parish there. And Everts has already tried the sheltersuit himself. His conclusion: "It warms extremely well and gives you a good feeling of being protected."

The suits cost the Diakonie 300 euros each and are passed on by the employees quickly, unbureaucratically and unconditionally, they say.

Without wanting to distract from the fundamental problem of the lack of living space for the homeless, the Diakonie would like to offer this help to as many people as possible.

This is why Everts asks: "Your donation may even be life-saving - no matter how high the amount." Donation account: Evang.-Luth.

Parish, Kreisparkasse München-Starnberg-Ebersberg, IBAN: DE54 0150 0000 0074 19, keyword: "Donation for emergency housing aid / Sheltersuit".
