In Magdeburg, thousands of people demonstrated against the corona measures and compulsory vaccination.
On Saturday afternoon, up to 1,500 participants gathered in the Alter Markt, as a police spokesman in Magdeburg said.
The entrances to the square have been blocked in order to comply with the hygiene regulations.
At the rally in front of the town hall, corona vaccinations, tests and the wearing of protective masks were criticized.
Magdeburg - It was called for "disobedience".
Then people from the direction of the Alter Markt set out through the city center.
Critics of the corona policy also gathered in other places in the city.
The situation was dynamic.
The protest was mobilized nationwide in social networks, but according to the police, only smaller events were registered.
In the morning there had been a car parade through town.
According to the police spokesman, around 50 vehicles took part.
The parade went smoothly.

In Saxony-Anhalt, demonstrations registered at least 48 hours in advance are generally not restricted, but if there are more than ten participants, the competent assembly authority, in consultation with the health authority, can restrict, prohibit or impose conditions.
In the last week of December, the Magdeburg police tightened the rules for unannounced demonstrations by means of a general decree.
Protests that have not been registered are only allowed to take place locally.
Protest marches through the streets are then prohibited.
There is also an obligation to wear a mask and to adhere to distance rules.
