A US official announced his country's readiness to discuss security arrangements with Russia regarding missiles and military exercises, during bilateral talks likely to be held in Geneva tomorrow.
"Washington is ready to discuss the possibility of reciprocal restrictions on the size and scope of exercises conducted by Russia, the United States and NATO," a senior White House official told AFP, adding that it was possible to make progress in bilateral talks "provided that the commitments reciprocal.
The US official considered that his country views these discussions realistically and not with optimism, and that they will be "reconnaissance" and will not lead to final commitments.
It is noteworthy that the Russian Foreign Ministry distributed, on the seventeenth of last month, two draft documents of Russia on legal security guarantees requested from the United States and NATO on their role in Europe.
