According to the organizers and the police, up to 1000 people gathered in Erfurt on Saturday to demonstrate for democracy and consideration in the pandemic.
With a human chain on a cordoned off part of the cathedral square, they wanted to send a signal against the so-called "walks", during which people often protest against the corona policy without distance or mask.
Erfurt - "That is publicly expressed hostility to democracy in its purest form," said Renate Wanner-Hopp from the "Grandma Against Right" initiative that organized the campaign.
The demonstrators on Domplatz wore masks and kept two meters apart with scarves and ribbons. Members of the state parliament of the red-red-green government parties also took part in the registered rally with controlled access for up to 1000 participants. The head of the Left, Ulrike Grosse-Röthig, said that Thuringia could be a light and show that there is more than protest against corona policy.
"More than ever, it is time for the silent majority, which has been adhering to the measures for two years now, to show that the minority is a minority," said Grosse-Röthig of the German Press Agency.
Justice Minister Dirk Adams (Greens) said in a similar way on the sidelines of the rally: "I think it's great that so many people show that they agree with the restrictive measures - no question about it."

According to the police, almost 230 people took to the streets at rallies in Rudolstadt and Arnstadt to promote solidarity.
Human chains were also formed there.
According to the police, the actions were peaceful.
In Thuringia, only stationary rallies with a maximum of 35 people are currently allowed.
The assembly authorities can, however, also allow larger gatherings under certain conditions.
