"Predict sweet potatoes", according to the book by the winner of the 2020 Ophir Prize for Literature, Sami Bardugo, premiered at the Ramla Theater - which also serves as a creative theater and cultural center in the area and is considered unique.

"History in Ramla," announced the excited mayor Michael Vidal who watched the premiere. "It's the only professional theater in the country that is fully funded by the municipality. They came from all the theaters in the country and praised us. Culture is very important and it lifts our city up."

Videl remembers how it all started: "A year ago I was here in an amazing show. The hall was full and at the end of the show I said to my CEO sitting next to 'Who are these, Habima, the Kamari?', So he says to me, 'Tell me are you serious? These are your students, this is the theater department. ' I was shocked. I told him 'Listen well, we are setting up a theater in Ramla'. It took a year and now we have a theater. "

"It's a little unbelievable," said Sammy Bardugo on whose book the play is based.

"I thought that after a year or two things would be over, but no, 20 years have passed and yet this story is told in different contexts, political and social. It is a wonderful thing of the Lottery and the Ramle Municipality and everyone who supports it."

The play's director, Yossi Joz Cohen, added: "The Ramla municipality has managed to build a house here, a theater that speaks a unique language that integrates all the cultures here in the city. We chose to stage a play from the story of Sami Bardugo, which is very relevant today. "For train buildings that exist in many development towns. The buildings remain the same buildings, but the families change and maybe it's time for something in these circles to stop."

Sharona Elimelech, the lead actress in the show, also sounded excited: "I'm the happiest person in the world to be a pioneer of this thing. It's a huge privilege to play in Sami's show. I'm very connected to this mother and unfortunately to the less good sides of the show. In the stomach and causes catharsis in a lot of people. "

"I dreamed about it when I was a kid," said Meir Tamam, who plays in the show. "But suddenly it happens and the dream becomes a reality. There is a theater in Ramla,Theater with respect and for me it is the happiest and most exciting thing there is. "

Avi Burns, director of the Ramla municipality's culture department, added: "Our mayor led a move of a professional theater that will serve as a hostel for our young people and guest actors and that Ramla will be a cultural anchor of theater. The Lottery is the basis for this project. ".
