How problematic is a duck dish served in a restaurant?
Judging by the sharp and angry reactions directed at her, such as "This is the most grotesque thing I've ever seen," the dish, called "Stuffed Duck Neck," offered at London's prestigious Westerns Laundry restaurant, is relatively high on the list.
It all started when the restaurant, which opened in 2017 and regularly received positive reviews, uploaded an Instagram post a few days ago with an "artistic" photo of the dish - a white plate topped with whole duck head and neck stuffed with turnips and lentils, with the bottom of the neck tied with string.
The price of the dubious pleasure: 18 pounds, which is about 76 shekels, does not include a tip (but does it include lifelong trauma?).
Since this is a picture that is difficult to view and some have said it is pointless and outrageous, of the kind that you can not remain indifferent to when it suddenly pops up in your feed, we decided not to post it, but anyone who insists is welcome to be impressed by it here.
The caption also accompanies the photo, in which the restaurant staff noted: "We respect the animal life we cook by using all their organs - too much waste is produced in our industry as a result of purchasing selected chunks of meat and throwing the rest of the animal in the trash", along with the hashtag #beekofeet "From the Source to the Legs" in free translation), did not go down so well in the throats of the stunned surfers, and the story created a resonance in the British culinary media.
A mention on the Daily Mail website, for example, garnered no less than 2,500 stormy responses and boycott demands along the lines of "why would anyone want to order something so perverted?";

Along with questions like "What's the difference between a duck head and a duck breast? Meat is meat, if it bothers you then just be a vegetarian" and "it's just a PR exercise - the media bought it and need to take off the hat in front of the restaurant".
