Five people were killed in floods in the Eastern Cape province of South Africa.
"We have 5 deaths, including a police diver, as a result of these sudden floods," the province's Prime Minister, Oscar Maboyan, was quoted by AFP as telling reporters, noting that the waters had inundated low-lying areas in the south of the province within a few hours.
Yesterday, heavy and sudden rain fell on some areas of the southern province, including East London, a coastal city on the Indian Ocean.
One of the worst-affected areas is Medantsan, a large area in the outskirts of East London.
