The Commander of the CSTO peacekeeping forces Andrei Serdyukov announced today that these forces have begun their deployment and implementation of their tasks in Kazakhstan.
Sputnik quoted Serdyukov as saying during a media briefing with Kazakh Deputy Defense Minister Sultan Jamladinov: The implementation of the tasks of the collective peacekeeping forces will continue until the complete stabilization of the situation in the country.
And the countries of the Collective Security Treaty Organization announced the sending of peacekeeping forces to Kazakhstan after a request from its president, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, to help his country overcome what he described as a "terrorist threat".
In a related context, units of the Russian forces within the peacekeeping forces of the Collective Security Treaty Organization began training work at Alma-Ata airport.
And the press service of the Russian Defense Ministry said in a statement that "subunits of the Russian forces within the peacekeeping force in Kazakhstan have started special exercises to prevent emergency situations."
It should be noted that the transportation of the main forces of the Russian contingent of peacekeeping forces of the Collective Security Treaty Organization to the airports of Alma-Ata and Zytygin in the Republic of Kazakhstan continues on Russian military air transport aircraft.
