A meeting headed by Eng. Hussein Arnous, Prime Minister, conducted an assessment of the implementation stages of the city of car showrooms in the Al-Duwair area in Damascus countryside, the percentages of achievement, the existing difficulties, proposals to overcome them, the mechanisms for expediting work, and placing the city in service as soon as possible, which contributes to organizing the profession of buying and selling cars and related professions in the two governorates of Damascus and its countryside and the transfer of related commercial activities outside the neighborhoods of the city of Damascus.
During the meeting, the two governorates of Damascus and its countryside in charge of the project were assigned to set a timetable for the implementation stages during the current year and the requirements for financing each stage so that it could be approved, provide the requirements for its implementation and the continuous follow-up of the project on the ground and find direct solutions to the obstacles to implementation, which will positively reflect on the speed of completion.
Engineer Arnous stressed the need to intensify cooperation between the concerned authorities and work with accelerated steps to complete the project within the specified time periods due to its great economic and developmental importance, pointing out that the success of this project constitutes an important indicator for supporting joint projects between neighboring city councils and moving to other areas of cooperation that serve the development and investment process. It secures more job opportunities according to organizational schemes and a developmental vision that takes into account the requirements of a sound visual identity.
The meeting discussed the stages of completion at the project site, including the removal of rubble, the implementation of infrastructure works, and the necessary legal procedures for transferring ownership to the project management in accordance with the laws and regulations in force, and the appropriate investment system for the city that would support investors and achieve public benefit.
The city of car exhibitions is located in the Al-Duwair area on the Damascus-Homs highway, on an area of 145 hectares. When completed, it will include modern car showrooms, used car sales offices, maintenance centers, in addition to administrative buildings, a driving track and a single window center.
The meeting was attended by the ministers of local administration, environment, public works, housing, finance and transport, the Secretary-General of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers, and the governors of Damascus and Damascus countryside.
