Less exercise, less sun exposure, weaker blood circulation, easier pain in winter

The body of many people is like an observatory. When entering the winter, they will feel soreness all over their body, even acupuncture, numbness or burning pain.

In fact, it is because they unconsciously use the computer, play sparrows, or keep their mobile phones for a long time on weekdays, repeating the same actions; coupled with incorrect posture, they have accumulated headaches in shoulders, necks, arms, backs, thighs or knees.

In winter, when the temperature drops sharply, the body will be less depressed, and there will be less going out in the sun. In addition, the dry weather and less drinking water will lead to weakened blood circulation and aggravate the pain.

Winter will not make people suddenly more pain.

People who feel pain all over the body in winter mostly have different pain symptoms, such as muscle strain, shoulder and neck pain, shoulder or knee joint degeneration, etc.

But their pain symptoms are more obvious in winter. They feel soreness, tingling, or even numbness or burning pain, and it is especially painful when the body is stagnant.

The worsening of pain not only occurs in the elderly, but also affects people of other age groups.

Why does winter exacerbate pain?

1)

Less exercise

: In winter, the weather is freezing, and many people are more lazy to exercise.

If you are sedentary at home for a long time, the muscles of the thighs and buttocks are less active, and the muscles that have been strained and tensed may suddenly tighten;

2)

Less exposure to the sun

: Studies in the UK, the US and Nordic countries have found that the pain of patients is particularly severe in winter, because the short duration of sunshine makes people reduce their intake of vitamin D.

Many citizens are reluctant to go out in winter, and the lack of sun exposure and vitamin D intake makes the pain worse.

3)

Dry weather

: In winter, the weather is drier. Many people turn on the heating indoors and drink less water. When the body is dehydrated, the muscles will become more tense, and the blood circulation will also be weakened, which will worsen the pain.

4) Sudden drop in air

pressure

: When the temperature drops suddenly, the air pressure also drops sharply, making the nerves more sensitive, and joint pain and neuralgia will be more serious.

Here are three simple ways to prevent your pain from getting worse in the winter:

1)

Keep doing aerobic exercise

: 3 to 4 days a week, do 25 to 30 minutes a day.

2)

Stay in the sun

: To maintain adequate intake of vitamin D, sunbathe in warm sunlight for 20 to 25 minutes a day.

3)

Always keep warm

: remember to keep warm, especially when the weather is cold in the morning and evening, especially for the old affected area. For example, patients with neck pain should always keep a neck scarf and put it on immediately when it is cold.

Doing more stretching exercises on weekdays can also help maintain blood circulation in the body, nourish the fascia, increase joint mobility, and reduce the deterioration of pain.

But be careful not to stretch too hard at the beginning, because when the fascia is dry, it is easy to be injured.

When you feel a little tension in the muscles when stretching, stop for 3 to 5 seconds, and repeat the same action 3 to 5 times is enough.

Drinking enough water before stretching should also stretch different muscle groups easily and serve as a pre-workout warm-up.

CUHK Research: Ninety percent of the elders surveyed have two or more pain areas and knee pain is the most common. Students have bad posture, do homework, and play computer games. Exercise to restore physical fitness and prevent injuries.
