More than one million shekels: Six suspects arrested on suspicion of civil fraud Israel today

The suspects impersonated representatives of insurance and investment companies, seduced the elderly and the disabled, among others, and extorted their money fraudulently.


Police in the Northern District today (Sunday) arrested six suspects in the fraud of over 150 civilians in the amounts of 2,000 to 300,000 NIS each. .

The Fraud Department of the Northern District Police opened an undercover investigation, involving investigators from a credit company, following numerous complaints from victims that they had been deceived and cheated.

The police investigation revealed that the suspects impersonated representatives of businesses and companies such as Von-Market, Psagot, X-Finance and Meitav Dash, and enticed the victims to transfer funds to them for investment activities or loans or for the purchase of mobile phones.

The investigation further revealed that the suspects used the details of some of the victims for the purpose of deceiving other victims and made them suspects.

According to the investigation materials, the suspects fraudulently received more than NIS 1 million from the victims. Among the victims: the elderly, people with disabilities and people in financial distress or disabled persons.

The police revealed the true identities of the suspects, some of whom were hiding in a hiding place in Bnei Brak.

The suspects were surprised by the arrival of the police officers at their apartment, refused to open the door and while trying to get rid of their phones but were caught on hot after the detectives broke in.

As part of the arrest activities, NIS 59,000 and $ 31,000 in cash, a credit card suspected of being stolen, mobile phones and many documents were seized.

One of the detainees is also suspected of threatening Haim Etgar from the "Yitzat Tzadik" program following an investigation he conducted into some of the fraudulent acts.
