Today, the National Health Committee of China announced the registration of 165 new confirmed cases of coronavirus, up from 159 the previous day.
Reuters quoted the commission as saying in a statement that no new deaths were recorded, keeping the number constant at 4,636, and that at least two cases were discovered in Tianjin, caused by the Omicron strain, as the city began conducting tests among all its residents of about 14 million people.
In the Philippines, the Ministry of Health announced the registration of a record number of new infections with the Corona virus, which amounted to 28,707 cases, bringing the total to more than 2.96 million infections, while the total deaths reached 52,150, with 15 deaths recorded today.
In addition, several states in India today imposed new restrictions to contain the outbreak of the Covid-19 virus, amid an increase in the number of infections, as the country recorded 159,632 new infections, with the rapid spread of the Omicron strain.
Maharashtra, the richest state in India, issued a decision to close swimming pools and gyms, starting tomorrow, and a decision to close schools and universities until next February 15, after the daily injuries in the state jumped to more than 41,000 injuries.
The state government has indicated that it will only allow restaurants to enter private workplaces, and has reduced its workforce by 50 percent.
In the neighboring state of Gujarat, authorities increased the hours of a night-time curfew and canceled holidays for health care workers.
And the Indian Ministry of Health recorded 327 new deaths, bringing the total deaths to 483,790, while the total injuries reached 35.52 million cases.
