The investigation shows that the suspects were involved in assaulting a rabbi and elected a public by trimming their beards with scissors, and pouring a pungent-smelling substance on the door of a Knesset member's home.
In addition, according to the suspicion, a woman was attacked by spraying pepper gas in front of her and the grave of the late Rabbi Steinman was vandalized.
Following an undercover investigation conducted by the police while gathering evidence, findings and a variety of investigative actions, last month police detectives from the Jerusalem Police Department arrested two suspects on suspicion of their involvement in these acts.
The main suspect, a resident of Jerusalem in his forties, was arrested on suspicion of planning, initiating and ordering the cases of violence and vandalism and paying money to the young man who actually carried them out.
The second suspect, an 18-year-old Safed resident, was arrested on suspicion of committing the acts in exchange for a monetary payment he received from the main suspect.
After his detention was extended he was sent to house arrest and the investigation into his case continues.
According to the suspicion, the background to the acts is the extremist views of the main suspect on various issues, including: his opposition to vaccines against the corona virus, his opposition to the recruitment of yeshiva students for compulsory service and other aspects concerning the ultra-Orthodox public. Their opinions and prevent them from making decisions on these issues.
