The Russian Foreign Ministry announced today the operation of 13 flights from the city of Almata in southern Kazakhstan to Russia, carrying 1,422 people.
The ministry said in a statement today that the flights were carried out on military transport aircraft of the Russian Defense Ministry.
The Collective Security Treaty Organization, which includes Russia, Belarus, Armenia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan, announced the dispatch of peacekeeping forces to Kazakhstan, where the Russian unit was deployed at the airport in Almata.
The President of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Gomert Tokayev, stressed that the security forces are confronting criminals and murderers, including armed and trained foreigners, stressing his refusal to negotiate with them, explaining that Almaty was attacked by 20,000 criminals who had a clear plan and procedures in good coordination and a high degree of combat readiness.
