The Directorate of Theaters and Music in the Ministry of Culture celebrates the Arab Theater Day through a celebration that includes five performances presented by the national theater groups in five governorates.
The director of theaters and music, Imad Jalloul, said in a statement to SANA that the directorate is constantly seeking to keep pace with Arab and international theatrical events by holding celebrations and theater festivals in various governorates in an effort to involve theatrical actors in these occasions and to enrich the local theatrical movement and present good performances to the stage audience in Syria.
The theatrical show entitled The Fox and the Grapes, directed by Layal Al-Hadi, will be presented at Al-Hamra Theater in Damascus, and the children's show entitled The Old Kalam, directed by Youssef Shammout, will be presented at the Cultural Center Theater in Hama. Khalaf on the stage of the cultural center in al-Hasakah and the play of the Taurus monster on the stage of the cultural center in al-Suwayda.
The Directorate of Theaters and Music also announced the schedule of theatrical performances for the Children's Theater Festival, which will start with the middle holiday on the 15th of this month until the 22nd of this month.
It is noteworthy that the Arab Theater Day, corresponding to the tenth of January, was launched by the Arab Theater Authority on the same day it was established in 2008 to be a day to celebrate Arab theater in various Arab countries. This year’s speech was written by the Lebanese artist Rafik Ali Ahmed.
